Watch out Fish!!

Saturday was the first official swim meet of the team season and the kids all did SUPURB! They all bested their personal times for each of their events and they all gave a great effort. Erin is shooting for Regional Qualifiying this year in hopes to get to the Regional and then State Championships (which, of course, involves lots of expensive travel, but luckly not until Feb/Mar of 2007). Her relay team already made the time to qualify for the Regional district event in Mar. So now in order to guarantee her spot on the regional team Erin needs to qualify in another event. Good thing for her, there is 4 months left in the season.

When we arrived home after the swim meet (did I mention that these things run for about 5-6 hours??), the power goes out and we were plunged into total darkness. So we lit the fireplace, got out all the candles and the board games and hung out without all the everyday distractions. It was really calming after a hectic day to just sit in the dimness and enjoy some quiet games with the kids. Then, at bed time the kids convinced us to "camp-out" in the living room infront of the fireplace (warmest place in the house without power). We dragged a couple of mattresses out into the living room and all cuddled up together. By the time the lights came back on (about 3am) no one noticed. Not only did we all sleep well, but Sunday arrived an hour later than normal (due to the end of Daylight Savings Time) so we were all well rested too.

Good thing because HALLOWEEN is comng this week!! - J
