November is nearly gone as well
We had our first snowfall of the year last week. It was a one full month later than we usually get our first snow, so we figured we were lucky. That was until we woke up Tuesday morning. The kids immediately declared a Snow Day and headed out for snowball fights and snow fort building. Our lovely Lake Erie dumped 8 in. of wet and heavy snow on us, blacking out the power for two days. We lost some fairly large limbs from two of our trees and spent just under 48 hours in the dark. Lucky for us, we have a fireplace to heat the house with (or portions of it anyway) and a gas stove to cook on. We camped out in front of the fireplace, pulling mattresses into the living room for the dark over night. The next day we got up late, had cold cereal for breakfast, packed clean cloths, went to the local YMCA (we LOVE being members) to get long hot showers all around. After that Dan took us all out to lunch (having taken the day off from work) and then to the mall to “hang out” for the afternoon. We got home just before dark and just as the power was coming back on. All in all, two horrible days without school for the kids. How they suffer!! - J
