Great News from here!
Dan has accepted an offer from GE to transfer to a new position. He is leading 6 engineering groups located: 1 in Florence, Italy; 2 in Bangalore, India; 1 in Boston, MA, USA; and 2 in Melbourne, FL, USA. As well as being a great move for him within the company, it going to be a great move for all of us. His new position will be located at a GE facility in lovely Melbourne, Florida, which is located directly on the Atlantic Coast. Approx. 20 minutes to Cape Canaveral.
We are all really excited about the change and can’t wait to tell everybody all about it. We’re looking forward to trading in all our snow gear at the end of this season for some new sunny weather gear! The kids are keen to investigate Cape Canaveral, Disney, Water skiing, Wind surfing and Atlantic coast Hurricanes!! (OK, so maybe they’re not too thrilled about the hurricane thing…) Declan hopes we find a gator in the backyard (my sister Terri had a house in Tallahassee with a pond and gators in the backyard) but I’m pretty sure the dog is hoping we don’t! I’m looking forward to dumping the minivan and getting the little red 2-seater roadster convertible I’ve been eyeing (like THAT’S gonna happen!)!
Dan will be starting in his role in two weeks time and will quickly be off and running. The kids and I will be taking a little more of a leisurely track to Florida. We are going to finish out the school year here, and move into a home in June/July. This should hopefully give us plenty of time to sort, sell and pack all our stuff (anybody want some “stuff”!). It will also give us plenty of time to find a place to stay down there.
