Early 2009 - Another quarter gets away from us!

NC/DC Trip (April 6th -12th)

(Out in front of The WhiteHouse)

Just before Easter we took the kids and drove down to Washington DC for a few days and then on to Dan's brother's place in Blowing Rock, NC. We only got about a day and a half to see some of the monuments in our nation's capital but found time to experiment with some great international foods. We did manage to see the Whitehouse, Lincoln memorial, Washington Monument, and some other memorable spots. Then, after driving through a blinding snow storm in the Blue Ridge Mountains we arrived at David's for 4 days of throwing pots (Barb is a potter and has a great studio to work in), and hanging out.

When we left NC to come home, we decided to leave Elise to stay with Dave and Barb's on her own for another week. What a cool adventure for her! She had a blast for the week and then flew home ON HER OWN! At nearly 12 years old, it was exciting and nerve racking for me!!! She is becoming such an independent and beautiful young woman.

Declan's First Communion (April 26th)

On Sunday April 26, 2009 Declan took his first Holy Communion at St. Luke's Church here in Erie. Dan's parents (John and Eileen Ballesty) came down to celebrate the event with us. Declan was the most handsome boy there!

Declan Turns 9! (May 11th)

Declan turned nine years old on May 11th! He had a "Rubber Duckie" theme party a few days later for a dozen of his closest friends and they all had a splashing good time. As you can see, the kids are all growing like weeds. The girls are just shy of being as tall as me and the boys are gaining fast.

Erin Makes Academic Excellence for first year of High School (May 20th)

Erin was awarded a certificate of acheivement for maintaining Summa Cum Laude Dean's List (a GPA of 4.0 or above out of 4.5) for the entire school year. We are very proud.

We are in the last 2 weeks of school so there will be more to come soon - I hope!! - J
