Christmas arrived here at 3:00 am on December 25th. That is the precise moment that Elise awoke and discovered that Santa had placed her stocking on her bed. Ignoring all clocks she came running in to check if she could get up. After being told (gently I hope!) that no one gets up before 6:00 am, she was sent back to bed. At 3:35 am Declan awakes to find that Santa has indeed left his stocking at the end of his bed and comes in to check if he can get up! He too is sent back to bed (maybe not so gently). By 4:00 am both bedroom lights are on and all four kids are up investigating the loot that arrived in their stockings. Dan and I finally pulled ourselves out of bed at 6:00 am and let the kids attack the massive pile that had overnight grown under the tree. Needless to say, by my second cup of coffee (and STILL before sunrise I might add!!) they were done unwrapping and well into the "please help me get this out of the *#$%! package" stage. It was a wonderful day - after that quick mid-morning nap!!.
Somehow, Declan managed to get both an electric guitar AND dark sunglasses for Christmas. He's got a LONG way to go to get to playing the Blues though! Of course, as soon as the guitar was opened it was, "Mom, can you get me a guitar pick, and a music stand, and a bigger amp, and oh, yeah, some lessons on how to play!" And so it begins.......
My biggest gift this year was having Dan home for 10 full days! He managed to get Dec 22nd - Jan 2nd off from work. It's been really great to have him here working and playing with the kids. It has also been incredible to have him puttering around on all the little projects around the house. So much more is getting done!
Best wishes to all as we close out 2006 - See you all next Year!! - J
