A month ago, Dan had the great idea to let each of the kids bid on an item on a local newspaper sponsored on-line auction. Each picked an exciting and expensive item and away we went. The long and the short of it is, very few other people bid on these items (or the entire auction for that matter) and we ended up with some cool things. Erin won 5 passes to downhill ski this season, Elise won 6 tickets to a local amusement park, Liam won a 36 bar case of chocolate bars every month for a YEAR! And Declan, dear sweet, non-violent Declan, won a years worth of FENCING lessons!!
So now Monday nights we drop Dec off (we are not allowed to watch) for an hour and he gets to learn about his stance, holding a foil and lunging. He's really chuffed. Both because it's sword play but also because it's something that only he is doing. Everyone else is doing great and keeping busy. All 4 kids start a new swim season next week, so we'll keep you posted. - J
