Swimming with the Polar Bears

(A view out the front window of our blustery, negative degree weather)

Swimming continues even though the temperatures here have dropped into the negative numbers (F). This week's HIGH temperature is 9 degrees and that is with 30-40 mph winds creating a wind chill temperature of -15 degrees! Of course, we are graced with an indoor facility to practice at, so the kids don't really notice to cold, with the benefits of going from a warm house to a warm car to a warm pool and back again. However, between the biting cold and the continuous snow fall we don't leave the house much and cabin fever sets in pretty quickly. It is a shame as well that they can't get outside to play in the snow like they did in January.

As for a swim update: With only 1 home meet and then Championships left in the season - we are starting to wind down. All except Erin, with only 2 meets left to make a qualifying time for Distrists she is turning up the heat. She is .95 of a second off qualifying in her Freestyle (front stroke) and 2.63 seconds off qualifying in her back stroke. We will keep everyone up to date as the meets conclude. - J
